Developed by BFC Partners in partnership with New Destiny Housing and SMJ Development, The Kira is an $80 million, 21-story mixed-use building at 153-19 Jamaica Avenue in downtown Queens. Of the 139 affordable units, 69 are reserved for families coming from New York City domestic violence shelters — households earning at or below 40% of area median income. The remaining units serve households at or below 80% AMI.
On-site supportive services — funded through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative — are provided by New Destiny Housing, giving residents access to trauma-informed care and the resources they need to rebuild stable, independent lives. The building also includes 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and is one block from the E, J, and Z trains at Jamaica Center. The Kira is what BFC means when it says housing is just the beginning.
