From the beginning, BFC sought out innovative ways to make a truly high-quality building affordable. We began by hiring SOM, the architecture firm behind landmarks like One World Trade Center and the Smithsonian American History Museum, to develop a tower that responded to the unique urban context. Rather than grids of window walls sandwiched between floors that are typical of residential towers, the entire structure is enclosed in a seamless curtain wall, a high-performance strategy usually reserved for commercial buildings.
